Fashion in India is evolving as it should. But in this race of keeping up with the contemporary, Indian sense of fashion is losing its ethnicity. Although there are a lot of designers who try and experiment with the traditional Indian clothing but they are so deeply influenced by the western sense of fashion that their designs look as if mutated to a confused Western version of an Indian dress. This summers, there are a few designers who brought the best version of Indian clothing and you will be almost surprised to see their work with vibrant yet soothing designs.
One of the less talked about designer who tops my list of bringing out the true spirit of Indian culture is Madhu Jain. Her spring/summer collection of 2018 paints a marvelous painting of the temples all around India. Her vivid representation varies from the description of Lord Krishna to the beautiful representation of cows and lotus flowers. She intertwined the divinity eccentric to Indian culture and made us travel the temples all over India, all at once. Her works can be worn both casually and formally. The simplicity and grace brought about in her works is worth noticing.
The next mention in this article is the famous designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee. He is known for blending nostalgia with crafty designs and vivid colour patterns. The spring/summer collection 2018 by Sabyasachi is all about weddings and its grandeur. Vibrant colours and statement jewellery are mixed with shades to revive the retro look with a twist. If you are looking for something that would make you feel as if you are a part of the royals you can look for the lavish and flattering designs by Sabyasachi.
Next up is Anju Modi and her spring/summer collection of 2018. If you are looking for grace, simplicity and ethnicity, you should definitely check out her collection. She has churned all the three elements perfectly and has presented an extremely beautiful range of designs which soothe your eyes. Her outfits are a daily to go and bring out a picture of the daily Indian life and the way she added the element of serenity to it is remarkable.
There is a long list of designers who bring out great designs for Indian wear. To name a few, I would like to mention Meera and Muzaffar Ali and Manish Malhotra who are all about the grandeur. Tarun Tahiliani, J J Valaya and Ritu Kumar are other mentions who try to bring out the best in Indian clothing. Amidst all the trends, I guess we should appreciate the efforts of the designers who represent Indian ethnicity globally and are constantly trying to revive it.
